Courses and Schedules

COURSE NAME: Agility Level One

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Get ready for the most popular dog sport! This course will teach you the skills needed to play agility. Emphasis on motivation and targeting. Basic pieces of agility equipment will also be taught (kept at a lower height). We will cover Targeting - 1-2-3 game - Tunnels - jumps - plank walking - tip board - barrel. This class is best suited for friendly, non-reactive dogs.
Clicker knowledge is helpful and dogs should have excellent off leash skills. Agility is a "Team" sport, so handling skills are needed for our human students too :) Please note that space in this course is reserved first for the students currently enrolled in our prerequisite course. We will take students from other schools into our Agility classes if there is space closer to the start date. Dogs need to be a minimum of 6 months of age at class start date.

COURSE NOTES:  Pre-requisite: **NOTE** The prerequisite for this class is one of our 6 week group obedience class. Either our 6 week Family Dog class (Not Family Dog Fast Track) or if your dog has done basic group obedience elsewhere and has good skills, you can attend Practical Living Intermediate as your prerequsite. We do need to know your dog, and your handling skills, before coming into the Agility program. We do not accept reactive dogs for this off leash class. Please feel free to email us for more info.

COURSE NAME: Agility Level Two

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Agility is a great activity to keep both you and your dog active and thinking. Using the exercises learned in Agility Level One, you will start to use equipment with more height and start basic sequencing. We will cover Tunnels - Jumps - Dog walk - weave poles - tunnels and chute - Pause table - Ramp walking - A Frame

COURSE NOTES:  PRE-REQUISITE: To continue in our Agility program, your dog needs to have been successful in our Agility Level One course (you can retake level one if needed) and be friendly and non-reactive, plus under off leash control.

COURSE NAME: Agility Level 3 - Games

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will delve into the skills and strategies needed to play Agility games. Great option for those that wish to continue onto Agility Trials, or for those that want to attend agility fun matches. The instructor will be there to help you navigate the course with the skills you have learned.
We will cover the rules of Snooker, Gamble and Team Relay including strategies for playing them, handling skills required and dog skills that are useful/helpful.
GAMBLERS SKILLS include independent obstacle performance, distance handling skills, how to score points.
SNOOKER SKILLS include planning a smooth opening and skills for working up close.
TEAM RELAY is a fast paced game where a dog and handler team plays in cooperation with a ?second dog and handler team.

COURSE NAME: Agility Level 3 - Agility Assembled

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This class will delve into utilizing a variety of equipment each week with sequencing as part of the challenge.

COURSE LENGTH:  6 weeks

COURSE NOTES:  Prerequiste: Dogs should have completed at least 1 of our Level 3 modules plus Rock Star Weaves. If you do not have this prerequisite, please email the office with details.

COURSE NAME: Agility Level 3 - Can You Handle It?

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Our Agility Program is designed to give maximum flexibility and allow students to train for the sport of Agility at a pace that is suitable for them. You may find yourself needing, or wanting, to do certain classes more than once. Any Agility Level 3 can be done in any order, but only after completion of level 1 & 2 done at least once each.

Course analysis is crucial to competing in Agility, or even to having the skill to manipulate a course in a class setting or fun match. This course is geared towards improvement of handling skills with the focus on placement of crosses.
Rear Cross - Blind Cross - Post Turns - Serpentines..and when best to use them. "Go" and "Get Out" will be explored.
We do suggest you bring a note book, or go home and make notes for your reference, as each dog will receive individual instuction.

Minimum equipment (jumps, tunnel, tire and chute) that was introduced in Level 1 & 2 will be used in this class and therefore some of the exercises can be easily simulated at home or in a smaller space. The curriculum will be adjusted to suite the skill level of the dog/handler team, to keep you motivated and adequately challenged.

COURSE NOTES:  Prerequisite: Level 1 & 2, with handling skills and equipment familiarity necessary. Preference will be given to current WWW students. COURSE NAME: Agility Level 3 - All About Contacts

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This class will concentrate mainly on all the contact equipment - A Frame, Teeter and Dog Walk. Making sure your dog is comfortable on them all, and more work on solidifying the contact zones.
The goal is to work at increasing heights and stick contacts even at speed. You will also work towards independence and increased comfort on the teeter.

COURSE NAME: Agility Level 3 - Go Gamble

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Learn to gamble! Teaching your dog to gamble is a ton of fun. By choosing the course first, to make up initial points, you will soon know how to Gamble!
The art of timing and knowing your dogs strengths will be discussed.

This course is geared towards focus on developing distance skills and directionals.
